Germany Day 2

Monday 29th July -Day 2

Today we woke up at 10:30am after an eventful night keeping Robin awake!! (it was our first night, we were a bit excited and stayed up fairly late!) We had breakfast and then we were honored to have a visitor called Achim from Humanistischer Verband who came to talk to us and expand our knowledge about the concentration camps in preparation for our visit there on Wednesday. The talk was very informative we learnt about different types of camps which is something we were not aware of beforehand, we were also told a story of one of the survivors called Otto Weisner listening to how he managed to deal with this whole experience.

Against Forgetting - Potsdam Newspaper Article about Otto Weisner

After this we had a little free time, some of the group walked around Potsdam, checking out the local sights and some of the group caught up on some much needed sleep. We met again at 5:30pm to play football with a local Potsdam team. It was also one of the groups turn to cook so Sonya, Ismah, Jayne and Rabia stayed behind as it was their turn on the rota, at football our team won 6-1. We had really built up an appetite.

When we got back the group had cooked us a great meal of Tuna pasta with onions, peppers and sweet corn,  spicy noodles and sizzling soup with pasta. We had ice cream and melon for dessert.

After eating we walked to Netto supermarket which is at the bottom of the street we are staying and got some goodies, then came back and worked with Kerry to write the blog for today which was are task on the rota,

It's been a good day, we are looking forward to the rest of the week,

Peace :)
Lewis, Charlie, Chiquina and Ridick
