Germany Day 3

Tuesday 30th July - Day 3

Hi everyone, today was day 3 of our experience, we went today to visit the German parliament Bundestag formally known as Reichstag. The building from outside was fascinating and looked historical but once inside we were surprised to see how modern it was, we learnt that this was due to the building being left unused for sometime after being damaged in the war and it was only very recently in 1998, that it became the home to the Bundestag. We took a tour of the building including visiting the roof top which had a huge open dome, you could see views of Berlin from here.

Later we had some free time in Berlin, us girls went shopping buying souvenirs for our family and friends back home, there were a few familiar shops to ours back home, the lads hired back and cycled around Berlin.

In the evening we were invited by a local community group to their place, we played volley ball outside and food was cooked for us, it was usual for us as the hut was in the trees and there were Mosquito's around it and it was in the the edge of a clough area surrounded by the nature or trees and insects, we felt uncomfortable and had a talk about why this is, we recognised that at home we are always in sterile surroundings with anti- bacterial wipes and sprays.
Some of us went for a swim in the lake, and then we headed of back to the hostel for a late team meeting to discuss issues arising in the day and plans for tomorrow.
We then went to bed and had some sleep zzzzzzzzzz :)

Peace
Sonya, Rabia, Jayne and Ismah x
